Adult with disabilities uses a universal changing table
I started Changing Spaces Wisconsin in 2016 after years of struggling to find somewhere to change my son, Matthew.
"It has had a profound effect on normal family life over the years as our entire family has missed out on so much because Matthew’s basic needs aren’t met in public."
I have had a number of successes in the Milwaukee area and word is slowly reaching farther afield.
In 2020 I was proud to be named Wisconsin Mother of the Year for bringing awareness to this issue.
Advocacy in Wisconsin
Sarah has successfully brought four bills to her Wisconsin legislature, but unfortunately they did not pass. Despite this, she continues to advocate and will not give up on legislation and building code adoption. Other successes include an adult changing table installation at the State Capitol and a resolution in Dane County requiring new public buildings to install adult changing stations.
