Do we actually need these?

YES!

dirty restroom floor next to toilet

Laying on a germy bathroom floor, in the trunk of a car, or on a picnic blanket are most people's only options for changing.

This is unsafe, unfair, and undignified!

Baby Changing Tables Do NOT Meet the Needs of All.

Baby changing tables are for BABIES. Older children and adults with disabilities quickly surpass the weight limit of baby changing tables, making it very unsafe for them to use.

Who needs them?
  • All babies and children under the age of 2.

  • A large percentage of children age 2-5 are still not reliably toilet trained. Infant changing tables only accommodate children up to 50 lbs, which does not accommodate this age group.

  • Children, teens and adults who have outgrown infant tables, and experience incontinence due to one of the following medical conditions

  • Genetic Syndromes (Turner Syndrome, Rhett Syndrome, Fragile X syndrome, etc.)

  • Acquired brain injury population (Traumatic Brain Injury, Hypoxic Brain Injury, Stroke, etc.)

  • Physical disability population (Spina Bifida, Spinal Cord Injury, Cerebral Palsy, Muscular Dystrophy, Multiple Sclerosis, ALS, etc.)

  • Individuals with chronic or progressive illness (Cancer, Advanced Organ Disease, Parkinson’s, Diabetic Neuropathy, Inflammatory Bowel Disease, etc.)

  • Individuals with complex care needs (Advanced dementia, bariatric population, kidney failure, etc)

  • Intellectual and developmental disability population (Autism Spectrum Disorder, Down Syndrome, etc.)

  • Women with childbirth injuries

  • People who have had anal or pelvic surgeries

  • Our aging population

  • And probably more groups we have not mentioned!

Who else benefits?
  • Families and caregivers of people with disabilities and medical conditions will have a safe piece of equipment where they can assist their loved one. This equipment will alleviate the isolation they go through at home with their loved one and give them a chance to be in their communities as well.

  • Businesses who will see a larger customer base, as people with disabilities will be able to spend money at their business

  • The entire population benefits from seeing diversity
